What's the Best Way to Travel with Pets?

Published on 3/4/2022

Spring is on the horizon, cities and countries are starting to open back up, and flights are coming back to major airports. It's a great time to travel, but what about our furry friends?

A lot of us (myself included) adopted what the internet has coined as "pandemic pets.” They’ve lived the past few years with us right by their side. Now that things are getting back to somewhat normal, we're left with the question of bringing them with us on our trips, having family take care of them while we're gone, or sending them off to stay in a kennel.

For a lot of us, family may not be an option. But we don't want to leave our pets behind. And for good reason -- they are family!

But traveling with your pet can be a stressful experience. You want to make sure that they're safe and comfortable, but you also don't want to have to worry about them the entire trip.

In this post, we'll discuss the best ways to travel with your pets. Whether you're taking a road trip or going on a far-away vacation, read on for tips on how to make traveling with your pet easy and stress-free!

Pick the right pet travel carrier

Picking the right pet travel carrier is crucial to traveling with your pets. This can be anything from a lightweight, over-the-shoulder pet travel bag to a heavy-duty dog crate to even a pet carrier backpack.

The type of pet travel carrier you choose ultimately depends on your method of travel and where you'll be taking your furry friend.

If you're traveling by car, a pet safety seat may be the way to go. They give your dog or cat a comfortable spot to relax in the car while still staying safe. They also take up a lot less space than a dog crate and can give you easy access to your pet if they want a snack or water.

Now you're ready to travel with your pets

If you're going on a hike and happen to have a small dog or cat, a dog backpack or pet travel bag can make your life a whole lot easier! Since small dogs can't climb over big things and cats aren't usually the best hikers (who can blame them?), traveling with them in a dog backpack will make the hike a lot more enjoyable for all of you. They’re also great for keeping snacks and water for both you and your pets.

After all is said and done, you're now ready to travel with your pets. If it's your first time, it can be a tad bit on the stressful side. But fear not! Over time, it'll get a whole lot easier for both you and your pets. They're great companions on trips, no matter where you go.

Turn Your Backyard into the Space of Your Dreams
Turn Your Backyard into the Space of Your Dreams For many, choosing a good outdoor furniture set is often an afterthought. They think “I spend most of my time inside, so why should I care so much about outdoor furniture?” But perhaps the reason they spend so much time inside instead of outside is because they didn’t choose a good outdoor furniture set. After all, you’re more likely to use something if you like it, right?
